How Coulee was Started
Coulee started in 2018 with Mitch and Emma Wallace. After a period of bad winter weather causing Mitch to stay indoors, he was restless and had to get out. He asked his wife, Emma, to join him at a nearby parking lot with a ball. He had an idea for a game. The game utilized the lines already painted in the parking lot and involved bouncing the ball between three parking spaces.
They both had fun and felt like it was playing more. They spent the next few months determining the right size and type of ball to play with and the size and shape of the serving areas. The game evolved from there to create a unique scoring style and to include specific service zones for the players to stand while serving. The game is still gradually changing today as more people play and become involved.
